Earl Jewell

Earl Bernard Jewell was born Oct. 7, 1947 and passed away Sunday, Mar. 26, 2023 at the age of 75.

On Aug. 4, 1974, Earl Bernard Jewell received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He was baptized in Jesus’ name at Life Tabernacle under the leadership of Bishop James L. Kilgore. He later was a member of Life Temple, started by Bishop Kilgore with Daniel Calk as the overseer and ordained “watchman” by Bishop James L. Kilgore.

He was appointed as the Assistant Pastor of New Life Temple under Reverend Joe Perry’s leadership. He also served as Assistant Pastor at New Abundant Life under Pastor Hughes Jenkins. Wherever God called him to be, he served faithfully-known by many as Elder Jewell.

He loved God, so He loved people. Later, God sent him to the First Church of Pearland, where he continued serving with his family.

Wherever his feet landed, he ministered. He knew no stranger and would tell them, “Keep ya head up and ya heart strong.” -Earl Bernard Jewell.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Jewell; daughters, Lasonya Jewell-Antone, Brenda Moreaux and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Ashllyne Graham and husband, Colton, Michael Moreaux and wife, Andrea; brothers, Vernell Jewell, Willie Stacy Jewell and wife, Mary; sister, Myra Fretty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Willie Jewell; sisters, Rosemary Jewell and Maud Felton; brothers, Johnny Jewell and Al Frerick Jewell.

The family received friends from 5 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 2, at First Church. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Apr. 3, at Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St, DeQuincy.
