Elmer Broxson

Elmer F. Broxson was born Aug. 27, 1935 and passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at the age of 87. Elmer worked at Dupont as an electrician and retired after working 40 years. He was an avid hunter; he and Bonnie enjoyed spending time in Canton, Texas. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and visiting with friends. Elmer was a faithful member of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy where he served as a board member. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and they will miss him greatly.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Faye Broxson; children, Kathy Pharris and husband, Rodney, “Skeeter” Broxson and wife, Terry, Kim Constance and husband, Mike; and bonus son, Michael Hunt; grandchildren, Jennifer Tramonte and husband, Jonathan, Anthony Broxson and wife, Bethyn, Abranda Price and husband, Jamey, and Whitney Dickerson; great-grandchildren, Andrew Tramonte and wife, Kaitlin, Austin Tramonte, Avery Tramonte, Sydney Price, Broxson Price, Adelyn Price, Eden Price, Oaklyn Broxson, and Deacon Broxson; and sister, Joyce Mae McGrew and husband, Ken.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lela Broxson; siblings, Everette Broxson, Frank Broxson, Gladys Hydle, and Joy Vern Perkins.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 and continued from 1- 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith Street, DeQuincy. Pastor Carlton Jackson, Jr., Rev. Danny Russo, and Rev. Andrew Tramonte officiated.

Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
