DeQuincy Students of Year

DeQuincy Elementary

By Brittany Granger

Payslee Dahlquist has been named DeQuincy Elementary 2022-23 Student of the Year.

We have had the pleasure of having Dahlquist in our school the past three years. She has a passion for education that has been passed down through her family as her grandfather worked at the school board for 24 years, and her mother was once a 4th and 5th grade teacher at DeQuincy Elementary. She has a strength in and love for Math while frequently serving as group leader in her classrooms. She constantly takes initiative, is driven, and brings her best effort every day. She is kind and empathetic and thoroughly enjoys working with others. She is a well-rounded student and wonderful example to her peers.

She has also maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout her entire academic career thus far. She is currently a member of our school’s National Junior BETA Club, 5th Grade DES Choir, Robotics Club, and 4-H Club. She participates in various extracurricular activities including community service and citizenship opportunities where she demonstrates exceptional leadership skills.

Our teachers, faculty, and staff feel privileged to have her here at DES. We cannot wait to see her accomplishments throughout the remainder of her educational career and have no doubt that she will succeed in every avenue of her life.
