Truman Cooper

Truman E. “Buddy” Cooper, 89, was born Aug. 26, 1933 and passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022. He enjoyed hunting, and working outside with his dogs and chickens. Buddy also loved spending time with his family. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a Navy CB 3rd degree. He was also a member of the DeQuincy Masonic Lodge 279 F&AM as a 33 degree Mason.

He is survived by his sons, Johnny Cooper and Darrell Cooper and wife, Debbie; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Billy Ray “Pete” Cooper, Amy Joy Carrington, and Myrtle Ann “Tannie” McManus and husband, Earl.

He was preceded in death by son, Greg Cooper; sister, Betty Dahlquist; and his parents, Ramsey Cooper and Myrtle Foster Cooper.

The family received friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, with the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 7 at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Mike Streams officiated. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery, Fields.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th Street, DeQuincy.
