DeQuincy Memorial VFW 3802 and Auxiliary hosted a “Get to Know the Candidate” political forum on Tuesday, Oct. 25 with approximately 50 persons attending.

Local, parish and state candidates attended and were able to meet with members of the local community so they could learn more about the candidates one on one, and make a more informed decision on who to elect in next Tuesday, Nov. 8 election.

Each candidate was allowed on stage to introduce themselves and later they each had a table assigned to sit and talk to voters.

Louisiana Public Service Commission candidates attending were Shalon Latour and Keith Bodin. Third Circuit Court of Appeal candidates were Guy Bradberry and Clayton Davis. School Board District 10 candidates were Tony O’Banion and Alvin Dale Smith. DeQuincy Mayor candidate Riley Smith attended. DeQuincy City Council candidates in attendance were Margaret Brown, Eddy Dahlquist, Denise Maddox Cameron Smith and Laurie Mueller.

DeQuincy City Council representatives who were unopposed, Jimmy Smith and Scott Wylie, also attended to greet the public although they will not appear on the November ballot.

Also attending, representing U.S. Senator John Kennedy, was his aide Woody Daigle.
