New band director named for DeQuincy Middle, High Schools

Coby Coco has been named the Band Director at DeQuincy Middle and High Schools for the 2022-23 school year.

Coco is a 1997 graduate of Northwestern State University and is currently in his first year as Director of Bands at DeQuincy Middle/High School.

Prior to his position at DeQuincy, he was the Director of Bands at South Beauregard High School for seven years, and Assistant Director of Bands at Parkway High School in Bossier City for 12 years. During his time at South Beau and Parkway, His concert and marching ensembles consistently received superior ratings, as well as numerous “Best in Class” honors. During that time, he also had several students earn All-State honors, and several who have gone on to become successful music educators.

Prior to his tenure at Parkway, he served as the Percussion Coordinator for the West Cluster of the Plano ISD, coordinating all percussion activities at the seven schools making up the West Cluster of the Plano ISD. During his time in Plano, he also served on the percussion staff of Metro Alliance Percussion, a WGI Open-Class Ensemble, helping “Metro” to a 3rd-Place finish at the 2005 WGI World Championships.

Coco currently resides in Lake Charles and is active throughout Louisiana and Texas as a marching band drill designer, clinician, consultant, arranger, and adjudicator.
