Tigers battle the Knights Friday

South Beauregard came into Tiger Stadium Friday night looking for their first win of the season. In a back and forth first half, it was the second half that saw the Knights pull ahead and stay ahead winning 35-21 to drop the Tigers to 0-3 on the season.

The Tigers jumped out quick on their first drive and drove down the field with Reese Ashworth taking the ball the last ten yards to put the Tigers up 7-0 after Kohen Cormier added the extra point South Beauregard scored but the touchdown was called back and it proved costly as they fumbled on the next play and Reese Ashworth scooped it up and ran the 17 yards to pay dirt to put the Tigers up 14-0 after the successful kick by Cormier.

South Beauregard then scored on a 7 yard touchdown run by Luke Gisclair and a 2 yard touchdown by Mason Derouen, to knot the halftime score up at 14.

The only score of the third quarter had South Beauregard scoring on a long 75 yard run by Luke Gisclair. At the end of the 3rd quarter the score stood 21-14.

In the fourth quarter South Beauregard scored first as Ethan Jurquet scored on a 28 yard scamper into the endzone. DeQuincy then got into the scoring action as Wyatt LaVergne scored on a 35 yard run with the Cormier kick to bring the Tigers within 7, 28-21.

South Beauregard scored one more time to close out the scoring as Clayton Folks scored on a 10 yard run to close out the scoring and the final 35-21 in favor of the knights from South Beauregard.

Leading the Tigers in passing was Reese Ashworth who finished 5-16 with 72 yards passing. Koby Poole was on the receiving end of all 5 passes gaining the 72 yards receiving.

The Tigers were led by Wyatt LaVergne with 55 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Reese Ashworth added 49 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Eathan Guidry added 15 yards total on the night.

On the defense it was led by M.J. Clark with 5 solo and 5 assisted tackles. Reese Ashworth had 2 solo and 5 assisted, Wyatt LaVergne had 2 solo and 2 assisted and Nigel Ceaser had 2 solo and 1 assisted tackle on the night.

Next up for the Tigers is another tough match up as the Tigers from St. Mary come to town. St. Mary is a private school from the central Louisiana area.
