Richard Bruno

Richard Lynn “Rick” Bruno, 67, of Lake Charles passed away suddenly on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 in his residence.

Rick was born Mar. 24, 1955 in Lake Charles where he was a lifelong resident. He was in the first graduating class of Barbe High School, in 1973. Rick’s career was always in car sales, owning and operating R&R Autosales for over twenty-five years and later working with AutoPlex 2000 and All Star Pontiac GMC. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, but his true passion in life was always for his family. He also enjoyed spending time at Chastain’s with Mr. Lee, his friends, and his family. Rick had a heart of gold and a larger-than-life, very outgoing personality and was loved by anyone who met him. He was loved beyond measures by his family and will truly be missed.

Mr. Bruno is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Monica Gearen Bruno of Lake Charles; sons, Jody Ashworth of Lake Charles and Todd Ashworth of DeQuincy; daughter, Kara Ashworth of Lake Charles; siblings, Danny Bruno (Charlene) of Lake Charles, Tammie Dubois of Baytown, Texas, Timothy Menard (Cheryl) of Texas City, Texas, Don Bruno (Mary) of Lake Charles, and Janet Triche (Karl) of Dahlonega, Ga.; grandchildren, Reese, Hayden, Hadley, Holden, Harley, Heath, and Gracelyn; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and an endless amount of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Bruno; mother and step-father, Merlina and Henry Menard; sister, Josie Bruno Goff; and brother, Ronald “Butch” Bruno.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Father Nathan Long will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. A gathering of family members and friends was held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Dr. Louise Becnel, Amedisys Home Health Care, Option Care Infusion Therapy and to everyone who had a part in his care.
