Dorothy Tillman

Dorothy Lou Perkins Tillman, 81, was born on Apr. 14, 1941, in Shreveport. Mrs. Tillman gained her wings and flew into the arm of our savior the morning of Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at her residence in Fannett, Texas.

Dorothy resided in Fannett, Texas with her daughter, Freda, for 11 years. Before settling in Fannett, Dorothy would often be known to travel from her children’s homes to friends’ homes, and other family members’ homes. She had a passion for being adventurous and traveling.

Dorothy was the loving mother of seven children, that she loved dearly. Despite her large family, she always made time for everyone. Dorothy always provided support and love for her family. As the children were growing up, she would cook large Sunday meals for her family to enjoy. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, spending time with her family, and shopping. Dorothy’s Pentecostal faith was something she would love to speak of. Prayer was something she didn’t miss out on; she could pray for long periods for everyone and everything. Although we mourn the loss of Dorothy Lou, we also rejoice for her homecoming with the Lord.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Tillman; her daughter, Connie Tillman; her mother, Janie Shoate; and grandparents, Henry and Susie Hoosier.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Virginia Griffin, Freda Tllman, Antonio Tillman, Kievien Tillman, Charle (Stephanie) Tilman; grandchildren: Jennifer Stoker, Kimberly Tillman, Joel Tillman, Yancey Tiiman, Zachary Griffin, Ryan Tillman, Jacob Tillman, Andrea Curiel, Jeremy Tillman, Lil Charles Tillman; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Charles (David) Harris, Dewayne (Barbara) Gill, Shirley Patenaude; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and other family members.

Family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at First Pentecostal Church in Starks. Interment followed at Miller Cemetery in Starks.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th St., DeQuincy.
