Fall is around the corner so the DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce is making plans for several upcoming events.
The Chamber will sponsor the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest. All businesses are asked to participate. There is no fee to enter, we just ask all to call 337-540-4126 to register your business.
This year the theme for the contest is Sports. Any sport may be used, just dress your scarecrow in that manner. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 12 noon.
The Fall Festival this year is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 31 at the walking path. The winners of the Scarecrow Contest will be asked to exhibit their winning Scarecrow at the Fall Festival.
Once again, the DeQuincy Chamber will sponsor the “Miss Merry Christmas” Pageant on Saturday, Nov. 5. More details will be coming on this pageant.
We are excited that the KCS Christmas Train will be coming to DeQuincy. On Nov. 30 we will turn into a “Railroad Town Christmas.” The Chamber will sponsor vendors for the event beginning at 4 p.m. until.
Anyone who is interested in a vendor space is asked to contact the Chamber office at 337-540-4126 or come into the office at 218 E. Fourth St. The cost of the vendor space is $30. The deadline for vendors to register is Wednesday, Nov. 23. All spaces must be paid by deadline.
Then on Saturday, Dec. 3, the Chamber will sponsor the Annual Christmas Parade at 10 a.m. There is no fee to enter. We ask that you begin lining up at 9 a.m. on Third St. by the football parking area. First, second, and third prize will be awarded. A Bicycle division will also be awarded first and second prizes. All Miss Merry Christmas winners will be asked to ride in parade.
Then to climax the evening beginning at 5 p.m., there is sure to be Snow at the ballpark. So, kids gather your hats and your sweaters and come slip and slide in the snow. Our evening of activities will end with the Fireworks display.
So folks, get out your calendars and mark these activities to be sure you do not miss out of all the fun activities.
