James Harold “Jim” Barnes also known to all as “Pop”, 78, of Starks died on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022.
He was born in Beaumont, Texas. He retired from Star Enterprises formerly Texaco Refinery as a machinist.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Kilroy and husband, Mike of California; daughter, Jana Maldonado of Corpus Christi, Texas; son, Keith “Beau” Cheney and wife, Kerri of Sulphur; daughter-in-law, Stacy Barnes of Beaumont, Texas; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lee “Angel” Barnes; sons, James Todd Barnes and Karl Wayne Cheney; daughter, Sherry Monique Wilcox, and parents, Harold and Eunice Barnes.
A gathering of friends and family for fellowship will begin at 12 noon on Friday, Sept. 2, at Alligator Park in Starks. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Shields officiating. Cremation was entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton.
