Kayla Hanks Purkel, 37, was born June 13, 1985 and passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Purkel; mother, Tammy Perkins; dad, Carl “Spud” Perkins; father, Kylan Hanks; son, Eli Purkel; step sons, Hunter and Grayson Purkel; sisters, Tina and Lisa Perkins; paternal grandparent, Linda Hopper; along with a host of aunts and uncles; and her childhood friend, Marlena Carlin.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Tommy and Shirley Tigert; paternal grandparents, Ken and Betty Hanks; and her aunt, Debbie Tigert.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, and the funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15. The visitation and funeral service were held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Anthony Kennon and Rev. Wayne Neyland officiated. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
