Charles Gary Lorenz, 64, of Singer passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at his home in Singer. Gary was born on Sept. 13, 1954 in Singer to Charles Louis Lorenz and Helen Odegar Lorenz.
Gary worked in the construction field for many years before going to work as a Janitor for Singer High School and Fields High School.
Gary had such a passion for horses. He was known to take his horses and ride across neighboring states, in which he would set up camps along the way and be out for weeks at a time. Gary had such a thunderous, playful laugh and his sense of humor and kindness was unmatched by any. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed nothing more than “riding out”, setting up campsite in the woods where he loved to relax, fish, camp, and spend time with his loved ones.
Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Annie Welsh; his parents; and a sister, Carolyn Castete.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James Welsh and his wife, Nicole; son, William Welsh and his wife, Julia; grandchildren, Haley R Whiteside, Jessica Welsh, Elizabeth Welsh, Mary Beth Welsh, William Ray Welsh, and Terry Welsh; and a nephew, Chris Castete.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Singer. Rev. Mark Schultz will officiate services. Gary’s family will receive friends following the service for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
Cremation was entrusted to Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
