Clyde Hantz, Jr.

Clyde Hantz, Jr., 88, of Lake Charles, died in a Lafayette Hospital on Saturday May 21, 2022.

He was born in Orange, Texas and went to elementary school in Sulphur and graduated from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles. He furthered his education at McNeese State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Along with his father, he founded Hantz and Son Concrete in 1948, a family business still owned and operated by his family and son, Jonathan.

A devout Catholic, he was one of the pioneers of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where he served as lay minister and volunteered for Regina Caeli and OLQH School. He also worked with and was the past president of the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan Hantz (Pamela) of Ragley; daughter, Mina Hantz of Moss Bluff; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded by his wife, Mary Cormier Hantz; parents, Clyde (Sr.) and Agnes LeDoux Hantz; and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Johnson Funeral Home with Monsignor James Gaddy serving as celebrant. Entombment followed at Consolata Cemetery.
