Johnny D. Van Winkle was born Mar. 21, 1954 and passed away Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2022 at the age of 68.
He is survived by his companion, Jayne Yellott; daughters, Jonna Ashworth and husband, Robert and Jacqueline Sparkman and husband, Chad; bonus children, Katie Jefferson and husband, Chris, Cody Wendt and wife, Amanda and Jessi Brown and husband, Cody; grandchildren, Michelle Wix, Taylor Ashworth, Collin Ashworth, Kentadi Buffinet, Shyanne Sparkman, Chad Sparkman, Jr.; great-grandson, Gabriel Ashworth; bonus grandchildren, Hannah Jefferson, Gabriel Jefferson, Halynn Jefferson, Brycen Jefferson, Bryor Brown, Zayden Saunier, Greyson Saunier, Jameson Wendt and Sebastian Wendt. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Idell Powell Van Winkle; and brother, Rev. Jimmy Van Winkle and wife, Rhonda; nieces, Brigitte Holloway and husband, Brad, Gretchen Van Winkle and Hayleigh Van Winkle; and nephew, Ari Van Winkle; along with many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Columbus Van Winkle.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 3, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
