Ira Royer

Ira W. “Bud” Royer was born Mar. 8, 1932 and passed away Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2022 at the age of 90 surrounded by his loving family.

Bud was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jackie Royer; children, Vicki LeJeune and husband, Nebert, and Jeff Royer and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Rhonda Johnson and husband, Kirk, Brent LeJeune and wife, Leslie, Mandi Franks and husband, Jon, Kevin Clark, Kory Clark and wife, Amy, Kashia Spears and husband, Kevin, Brandon Henagan and wife, Courtney, and Christin Dowers and husband, Jake; great-grandchildren, Claire Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Daniel LeJeune, Michael LeJeune, Chloe Savant, Owen Clark, Madison Spears, Myles Spears, Evee Henagan, and Barret Dowers; sister-in-love, Nell Sandefer; bonus daughter, Pat Abbott; and bonus sons, Rory Hollingsworth, Billy Mitchell, and David Cooley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Versie Royer; and sister, Bernice Bailey and husband, Alton.

The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 2, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 3, at Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery. Rev. Jered Thomas and Rev. Ron Fox officiated and speakers were Butch Royer and Mandi Franks.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Broussard, Dr. Jalal Joudeh, Heart of Hospice, and Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
