DeQuincy High School under new administration

Principal

Calcasieu Parish School Superintendent Karl Bruchhaus has appointed Zach Jones as principal of DeQuincy High School. Mr. Jones previously served as the assistant principal of DeQuincy High for the past 14 years.

Jones holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education degree from McNeese State University. Additionally, he has completed the Executive Development Program through the National Institute for School Leadership.

Prior to his tenure at DeQuincy High, he taught high school English for ten years at South Beauregard High School.

He is a member of the Calcasieu Association of Principals, the Louisiana Association of Principals, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Jones and his wife, Misty, make their home in Longville, where they raise their child.

Assistant Principal

Sammy Smith has been appointed by Mr. Bruchhaus as assistant principal of DeQuincy High. Mr. Smith comes to DeQuincy after serving as an assistant principal of DeRidder High for the past two years.

He holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education degree from McNeese State University. He also holds a Master of Education in Christian Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He began his teaching career at Leesville High School, where he taught high school science and coached football and powerlifting.

Smith then came to DeQuincy High, where he taught science and was an assistant football coach and the head track coach. Under his leadership, the DeQuincy High track team won four consecutive district titles, two regional titles, and placed third in the LHSAA state track meet in 2016.

He has also taught science and drove a bus route at South Beauregard High School.

Smith was raised in DeQuincy and is a 1992 graduate of DeQuincy High School. He and his wife, Jennifer, make their home in Longville, where they raise their three children.
