DeQuincy Police solve copper theft case

By Jerry Bell, Chief of Detectives

DeQuincy Police Dept. has solved the copper wire theft. Here is the update:

On Monday, Jan. 24, it was reported to the DeQuincy Police Department that person(s) unknown had cut and stolen a large amount of electrical wire from the Community Outreach Center in DeQuincy. At the time of the incident there were no leads to pursue but the DeQuincy detectives kept the case open.

On Wednesday, Mar. 2, Chief Casey Whitehead, Major Jerry Bell, and Captain Doug Phillips were working another burglary when they received information referencing this case. On Wednesday, Mar. 3, Chief Whitehead and Major Bell went to Texas to a scrap yard and retrieved information and video evidence identifying people of interest in this case. Major Bell sent warrants to Judge Fazzio and received them back on the subjects involved. As soon as the subjects are arrested, then the Police Beat will name those involved.

Any theft is bad but stealing from a charity organization who helps those in need is worse.
