Percy Duhon

Percy Agnes Duhon, 94, of Lake Charles passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022 in her daughter’s residence.

Mrs. Duhon was born and raised in Duralde in the Cajun traditions. In her earlier years, she was a cook for Calcasieu Parish School Board. Mrs. Duhon was a lifelong member of South City Church of Christ.

In her spare time, she could be found working in her yard and admiring her flowers or sewing and cooking Cajun food for her family. She also shared her cooking talent with the sick. Mrs. Duhon cherished the time spent taking care of her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her ability to be a great friend to many who have gone before her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jean McGee (Donald) of Lake Charles, Farrel Duhon (Cay) of Lake Charles, Ronnie Duhon (Donna) of Sulphur, and Delana “Lannie” Thorn (Jimmie, Jr.) of DeQuincy; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Wilson Duhon; her parents, Eliman and Cyprien Granger; and seven brothers and one sister.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at University Baptist Church. Pastor Dave Lang will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Elton under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation began on Tuesday in the church from 5 until 8 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
