Kathy Andreas

Kathy McKnight Andreas, 62, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born on Nov. 21, 1958 to Earl and Marilyn McKnight in New Iberia. As the eldest of eight children, Kathy served as a second mom to her younger siblings. BooBoo was a hilarious partner in crime with a heart of gold. She was tender but tough as nails, with a deep love of family and an unshakable sense of right and wrong. Fiercely loyal, Kathy was the first to defend her family and had no difficulty in speaking her mind when someone crossed a line. BooBoo was someone you always wanted in your corner because she would stick it out to the end.

Kathy attended DeQuincy High School where she competed with the track team and played clarinet in the marching band. After graduating in 1977, Kathy explored the United States behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. In 1980, she met the love of her life, Steven Andreas. The two became an inseparable team and constant companions from then on. Kathy and Steven were married on Aug. 15, 1981. They weathered every storm and faced every challenge together.

In addition to her husband of 40 years, Kathy is survived by her two children, Brandy Andreas Hoelscher, of Big Spring, Texas, and Steven Alan Andreas II of Pasadena, Texas. Kathy was a fiercely dedicated mom, never hesitating to offer her assistance and guidance. A supermom who did it all, Kathy was as likely to be at a concert with Brandy as she was to be on the baseball field coaching little league. She was chef and chauffeur, cheerleader and champion for her children. Mom was the sounding board when a problem stumped you. She was proud of every accomplishment – no one cheered (or whistled) louder than mom! She made sure her home was full of laughter, music, and warmth. As she had done with her siblings before, Kathy became a surrogate mom to many of Brandy and Steven’s friends as well. When Brandy married, Kathy gained a bonus son that enjoyed teasing her about her Cajun heritage, but she was quick to dish it back too! They shared many laughs together. To her grandchildren Anne-Marie, Ethan, and Jessica, Mawmaw was full of laughter and always knew the right way to spoil a grandbaby.

Kathy is also survived by her siblings, Derwin McKnight and wife Christina, Elizabeth Taylor and husband Terry, Janet Williams, Candy Gray and husband Keith, Susan Moses and husband Tim, Joseph McKnight and wife Traci, and Heather McKnight; sisters-in-law, Sharon Childers and Susan Cutler and husband Kevin.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Earl McKnight Sr. and Marilyn Ann Charpentier McKnight Shannon; and brother, Louis Earl McKnight Jr.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, with a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home iin DeQuincy. Burial will follow at Hyatt Cemetery.

A kind and generous person, Kathy couldn’t help but nurture those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. A memorial fund has been established to assist the family during this challenging time. https://gofund.me/302427A
