Neysa Johnson

Neysa Helen Johnson, 68, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2021.

She was a native of DeQuincy and had been a longtime resident of Sugarland, Texas before returning to Sulphur 17 years ago.

She was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church where she was involved in Operation Christmas Child as well as other ministries. She had volunteered for many years at Sugar Mill Elementary, Maplewood Middle School and Sulphur High School.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Johnson of Sulphur; children, Shannon Angelique Perkins of Sulphur, Sheryl Christine Meek and husband, Barry of Westlake, and Thomas Scott Johnson, Jr. of Conroe, Texas; her siblings, Loretta Calderon and Pete Maddox; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Hilda Maddox; and five siblings.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 28, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Jeremy Blocker officiated.
