Carlton Jones

Carlton L. Jones, 90, of DeQuincy passed away on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1931 to his late parents, R. F. and Louise Jones in Mathis, Texas.

He was involved in American Quarter Horse Association, Louisiana Cattleman’s Association, and was an usher at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy for many years. Carlton also proudly served his country in the United States Army. Carlton and his wife served their community in various ways, and they were there if they were ever needed. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Carlton is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Scott) Brown and Theresa (Danny) Heard; and two sons, Frank L. and Carlton Dale; grandchildren, Joe Burleigh, Cheslie (Toby) Yellott, Alicia (Billy) Ortagus and Matthew Brown; great-grandchildren, Laikyn, Bailee, and Lucian. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Clarice Jones; and one brother, Dr. James A. Jones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 5 until 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Riley Smith Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church or the Sharon Mueller Thanksgiving Basket Ministry.

Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
