Phyllis Istre, 100, died on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021 at home. Born in Mansfield, she lived in Jennings and Chicago.
After marriage to her husband, they moved to Sulphur in 1943. She was clerk of court in Sulphur for 29 years.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Istre of Lexington, Ky. and Philip Istre and wife, Doris Jean of DeQuincy; eight grandsons, 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Istre; son, James; mother, Lena Rees; father, Henry Markham; and two brothers.
Graveside service was held on Saturday, Oct. 23, under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mimosa Pines Cemetery.
