DeQuincy pummels Pickering

By Mike Suchanek

The Homecoming crowd came home to celebrate and the Tigers did not let them down as they pounded Pickering 35-8.

DeQuincy got started quick when Taije Ceaser broke free on a 27 yard scamper into the end zone to put the Tigers up 7-0 after the kick by Kohen Cormier was good.

Mother Nature then showed up with her lightening show that sent both teams and fans scampering for cover.

After a 40 minute delay DeQuincy picked up right where they left off. Hudson Snyder scored back to back touchdowns one of 2 yards and one of 1 yard to put the Tigers up 21-0 at half time.

After the crowning of the Queen and Football Sweetheart at half time, DeQuincy went right back to work scoring two more touchdowns in the third quarter. Gavin Gary hauled in a 67 yard Touchdown pass from quarterback Reese Ashworth. Ashworth later got in on the scoring action by running in a 14 yard touchdown to close out the scoring for the home standing 2-0 district leading Tigers.

Pickering added a late meaningless touchdown in the fourth quarter to close of the scoring in the contest.

Kohen Cormier was good on all 5 of the PAT’s as he continues to shine on special teams.

Quarterback Reese Ashworth was good on 3 of 6 passing for 95 yards and 1 touchdown.

Taije Ceaser once again led the Tigers in scoring as he gained 150 yards on only 5 carries and sat out much of the second half with what appeared to be a strained muscle.

Ronald Courville added 39 yards while Reese Ashworth added 38 yards.

Senior Hudson Snyder toted the ball 11 times picking up a tough 36 yards scoring touchdowns twice.

Gavin Gary caught two passes for the night, for a 78 yard total. He also had the one touchdown and he added 2 rushing yards to the total.

Once again the Tigers played tough on the defensive side of the ball holding the Red Devils scoreless until the 4th quarter.

Zach Chambers was the leading tackle getter with 4 solo and 1 assisted tackle. Zach also had a quarterback sack and a tackle for a loss.

Gavin Gary had 3 solo and 1 assisted tackle.

Hudson Snyder had 2 solo and 1 tackle for a loss.

Shiloh Cotlong had 2 solo and 5 assisted tackles for the night.

Quentin Pharris had 2 solo tackles and 3 assisted tackles.

Ethan Guidry, Hooker, Mario Dixon and Duhon added 1 tackle each with Guidry also having an assisted tackle also.

Up next for the Tigers is a battle with the Kinder Yellowjackets in Kinder on Friday night at 7 p.m. Kinder has always been a tough draw in our District as they have won a couple of State Championships over the past few years.

However Kinder appears to be a little down this year and if the Tigers play like they have been over the past few weeks, I look for a Tiger Victory.

Make the trip down Highway 12 East and check the third district game for the Tigers out and cheer them on to victory.

Go Tigers!
