Julie Thorn is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Dennis G Walker Family Clinic, a primary care clinic now open at 302 W. Fourth St. (next door to AT&T).
Thorn attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 2013.
She has worked at area hospitals over her nursing career. She has worked in an array of areas including Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Day Surgery. In 2017 she decided to further her education. She attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles and obtained a Master of Science Degree in Nursing in 2020. Since graduating, she has been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner in the Urgent Care setting, caring for both acute and chronic illnesses along the lifespan. She is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is licensed in Louisiana.
She is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners; Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing-Kappa Psi Chapter; and the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Julie and her husband JT Thorn, are both locals and reside in DeQuincy.
