Virgil Luther

Virgil Luther, 86, of Singer passed from this life on Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2021.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jeanez McLeod and Mike of Singer, and D.D. Alton and Marlin of DeRidder; grandchildren, Trent Buxton and Erika of DeQuincy, Cristi Schilling and Matt of DeRidder, Kaylee Lobes and Jamie of DeRidder, Adrienne Buxton of Sulphur; great-grandchildren, Izabel Buxton, Brinlee Buxton, Karyee Lobes, Jayce Buxton, Bethanee Buxton, Leesan Lobes, and M.J. Shilling; sister, LaJuana Ferguson of Atlanta and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn Luther; grandson, Jason Buxton; parents, CB and Victoria Luther; son-in-law, Frank Alton; sisters, Iver McManus and Ethel McManus; and brothers, Johnnie Stroud and Buddy Stroud.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Mar. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. and continued at 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 12, at Singer Pentecostal Church in Singer. Brother Donnis Ashworth and Brother Jimmy Clark officiated the service. Pallbearers were Bruce Primm, Bill McLaren, Ben Choate, Jeff Corbitt, Michael Gimnick, B.J. Duhon. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe McLaren, Charlie Clark, Dennis Buxton, Marlin Blanchette, Jamie Lobes, Danny Jackson. Burial followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.

Services were under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
