Zalee Day-Smith

Zalee Gail Day-Smith, 14, of Longville, passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.

Zalee was a freshman at South Beauregard High School, she was President of the Student Council, and a straight “A” student. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was a fun, loving, outgoing “Chatter Box” who talked “90 to nothing”. She was a DJHS cheerleader and played basketball. Her most recent passion was her mini farm, where she raised chickens and made video blogs about them. Zalee was an inspiration to everyone and always found the positive side of everything. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, LeNora Day of Longville; father, Maxwell Smith of DeRidder; brothers, Douglas Kent Carroll, II and Cadie of DeRidder, and Thomas McKinley Day-Smith of Longville; sisters, Lacye Hamilton of Ville Platte, and Mattisun Miner of Longville; grandmother, Ruth Nyberg of DeRidder; nieces, Brayden Runge and Harvyn Soileau; nephew, Hamilton Soileau; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Buford Day; grandmother, Bertha Day; grandfather, Louis Maxwell Smith; and aunt, Valerie Louette Sewell.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Mar. 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Westview Baptist Church in DeRidder. Brother Jason Hoychick and Brother Mark Norwood officiated. Pallbearers were Maxwell Smith, Thomas Day, Douglas Carroll, Jeremy Thompson, Lance Coleman, Richard Rangel, Jon Harms, Coty Coleman, Jeff See. Burial followed at Old Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine.
