John Vige’ Jr. a lifelong resident of DeQuincy was born Mar. 11, 1933 and passed away Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2021 at the age of 87.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Midge Vige’; children, Glen David Vige’ and wife, Dora, Dorine Elizabeth Bearden and husband, Terry, John Eric Vige’ and Eddie Vige’ and wife, Kelli; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Silest Kendall and Vera Gipson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pierre Vige’ and Alzora Pitre Vige’; brothers, Herman Vige’, George Vige’ and Frank Vige’; and sisters, Gladys Berry, Leona Marcantel, Stella Ortego and Katie Dunham.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm. Wednesday, Mar. 10, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy and from 11 a.m-12 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 11, at Bible Baptist Church, 311 Second St., DeQuincy, with the funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
