Sanford Mark Fontenot, 69, of Lake Charles died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 in a care center in Welsh.
He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He attended Lake Charles High School. He began his working career at the age of eight as a paper boy. He worked many years for Lake Charles Rubber and Gasket. He then owned and operated his own business, Fontenot’s Splicing Service until retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Merry Hamann Fontenot of Lake Charles; two sons, Sanford “Mark” Fontenot, Jr. and wife Charlotte and Dana Paul Fontenot and wife Amy, both of Lake Charles; one daughter, Elizabeth “Cory” Fontenot Dyke and husband Seth of Ragley; five grandchildren; one brother, Dale Fontenot of Lake Charles; two sisters, Arlene Fontenot of Lake Charles and Myrtle DesOrmeaux of Delaware.
He was preceded in death by one grandson; parents, Lester and Zula Benoit Fontenot, and one sister.
A celebration service was held Saturday, Jan. 30, at Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Johney Jeans officiated.
