Louis Roy, Jr.

Louis Roy Jr., 76 of Lake Charles died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021.

He was born in Lake Charles and was a lifelong resident of Southwest Louisiana.

“Roy” as he was known to all, worked at Weingarten’s as the Meat Market Manager for 17 years, before opening Roy’s Meat Market in Moss Bluff in 1980.

As a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, he served as an usher for over thirty years. He was a past president of the Cajun French Music Association.

He is survived by his children, Kevin Louis (Donna) Roy of Ragley, Keith M. (Allison) Roy of Katy, Texas, Kayla S. (Ted) Villejoin of Bridge City, Texas, Kristi (Andy) Cates of Ragley; step children, Donna (Curtis) Cole of Lake Charles, Chad Romero of Lake Charles; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Theresa Jones, Donald Roy, Geraldine Meche Deshotel, Caro Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Alma Marie Roy; wife, Barbara Roy, a stepson, Scott Romero; two grandchildren and one stepgrandson.

The family welcomed friends at Lake City Baptist Church on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021 beginning at 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Lake City Baptist is located at 3940 Holly Hill Rd. Lake Charles, LA 70601. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Charles on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Burial followed at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
