Jordan Smith, a senior at DeQuincy High School, has been named the Calcasieu Parish High School Student of the Year.
Smith was chosen for this award from among the twelve students of the year from the parish’s high schools. He progresses to the regional Student of the Year competition.
He has held leadership positions in a variety of school organizations. He has also been elected a class officer each year of his high school career and has served as State Marshal for the Louisiana Beta club.
Smith is also a member of the DeQuincy High Choir and has been chosen to participate in the District Honor Choir for the past three years. Additionally, he is an accomplished disc golfer, having won multiple tournaments throughout his professional career.
Academically, he has maintained an exemplary academic record, maintaining a 4.00 grade point average and earning multiple awards for classroom performance.
In the fall, he plans to study at Louisiana College, where he has been accepted to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Worship and Leadership.
Smith is the son of Tracy and Marci Smith of DeQuincy.
