Ruth Ellen Soileau Girola 91, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at her son’s home in Ragley.
She was a graduate of Eunice High School. Her husband was a tenor saxophone musician with The Bill Hummel Orchestra and they toured with the band for several years before settling down in Lake Charles. She worked for Bel Oil Corp. for many years before retiring.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Lake Charles.
She is survived by her sons, Dino David Girola (Casandra) of Ragley, and Marty Lee Girola of Katy, Texas; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Girola; parents, Wilfred and Sadia Soileau; one brother, John Soileau; and a great-grandson, Brooks McKinley Girola.
A celebration of Life Service was held Thursday, Dec. 17, at University Baptist Church in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Bro. Johnny Dammon officiated. Interment followed in Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles.
