ORDINANCE NO. 928
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING
A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY; AUTHORIZING THE USE OF FUNDS FOR THE RESTORACTION OF POLICE AND FIRE PROTECTION, GAS PRODUCTION,WASTEWATER COLLECTION AND
TREATMENT AND ANY OTHER SERVICE OR PRODUCT WHICH HAS BEEN LIMITED AS A RESULT OF HURRICANE LAURA, AND PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE OF
ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of DeQuincy, Louisiana, the governing authority thereof, that based on the recommendations of the DeQuincy City Council, a Public Emergency is hereby declared in the City of DeQuincy, Louisiana, due to the need to provide police and fire protection, gas production, wastewater collection and treatment and any other service or product which has been limited as a result of Hurricane Laura;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Mayor Riley Smith is hereby authorized to use funds for the aforementioned service in an effect to restore basic city services, which were interrupted by Hurricane Laura, although not known at this time, but is not expected to exceed $500,000.00;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Mayor Riley Smith is hereby authorized to secure reimbursement from FEMA for any and all funds expended;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
This ordinance was declared adopted this 25th day of August, 2020.
