Ernest Walter “Rusty” Rodgers, Jr., 69, of Vista, Calif., died as a result of stroke related complications in the early morning hours on Friday, Apr. 24, 2020 at a hospice care facility in Vista.
Rusty was born in DeQuincy on May 14, 1950 to parents Ernest Walter Rodgers, Sr and Pearl DeNoux Rodgers. He was a 1969 graduate of DeQuincy High School. After graduation, Rusty lived and worked in the Calcasieu Parish area until the mid-1980s when he moved to southern California and went to work for Callaway Golf Company. After several years at Callaway, he took a position at La Costa Resort and Spa where he worked until his retirement several years ago.
He is survived by his sons, Jacob Rodgers and Zachary Rodgers; his girlfriend, Kathy Moss; his nephew, Gary Wall and wife Julia; his niece, Melanie Leatherwood and husband, Keith; his cousin, Mary Ann Viator and husband Daniel; and numerous other relatives and many friends who crossed paths with Rusty throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Catherine Rodgers Wall.
Private arrangements will be carried out on a later date. Donations may be made in memory of Rusty Rodgers to the COPD Foundation or to the American Heart Association, or to the charity of your choice.
