R. E. “Jim” Hays, 88, of Sulphur, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Louise Nelson Hays of Sulphur; daughters, Samantha Murphy and Erik of Iowa, Diane DeGuess and Yapp of Holland, Rhonda Faucett and Robin of Ft. Smith, Ark.; sons, Jimmy Hays and Wanda of Mansfield, Ark., Jesse Hays and Pam of Warren, Texas, Paul David Nelson and Connie of Ragley, Jessie Smith and Tammy of Sulphur; sister, Daisy Marie Tacker of Montgomery, Texas; 27 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Andrew Hansel and Lillie Mae Hays; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral service was held at First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur on Friday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. Brother Harlan Morgan officiated. Burial followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
