Marilee Bennett

Marilee Bennett was born on Feb. 14, 1941, and passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2019, in Houston.

Marilee was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Bennett, who preceded her in death, as did her sister, Ouida Bennett Gardiner.

She is survived by her brother Frank F. Bennett, of Arlington, Va., and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces.

Marilee spent her early years in DeQuincy, attending school there through her sophomore year, then transferring for her junior-senior years to Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Alexandria, graduating in 1958. She then joined her sister Ouida who was attending Ole Miss.

Marilee was a first in the field of electronics with Bell South, and ultimately retiring from AT&T in the ‘90s. She loved baseball, mathematical equations, her many devoted friends, was a self-taught photographer and artist, spoke fluent Spanish, and loved traveling through West Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico. Her later years were spent teaching remedial reading, basic math, algebra, and geometry – anything to do with numbers and calculations.

Internment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Alexandria in a family section with her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Faust, service date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity that benefits education.
