Carrier, Farnum sworn in as new representatives

Dewith Carrier, the new State Representative for District 32 and Les Farnum, the new State Representative for District 33 were sworn in at the State Capitol on Monday, Jan. 13, with their family members in attendance.

“I want to thank the citizens of District 32 for giving me the opportunity to serve you. I will work hard to make life easier for all of us in District 32 and provide a pathway for success for our children and grandchildren,” said Carrier.

Carrier is the owner of Service Office Centre/Teacher’s Pet in Crowley and Oakdale. He has served as Mayor Pro-Tem of Oberlin from 1993-2005, as president of the Oakdale Rotary Club for 2016-17, and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Oakdale, Kinder, and Crowley.

He is the president of the Oberlin Housing Authority, a member of the Allen Parish Crime Stoppers, and a board member of the SWLA Center for Health Services.

Carrier and his wife, Kathy, have four children and six grandchildren. They are members of Oberlin Baptist Church.

Les Farnum said, “I am so very proud and humbled to have been sworn in as your State Representative for District 33. I am excited to get to work for the citizens of Southwest Louisiana!”

Farnum was born and raised in Sulphur. He is a lifelong resident of District 33. He is a graduate of Sulphur High School and Sowela Technical College.

He has 43 years experience in Engineering, Maintenance and Construction fields. He is a former business owner for 18 years. He has been Calcasieu Police Juror for 11 years serving as Vice President in 2010 and President in 2012.

Farnum and his wife, Karen, have four children and three grandchildren. They are members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
