Accident on Highway 27 requires extrication

Ward Six Firefighters were called at 11:08 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, to respond to a 2-vehicle crash requiring extrication on Highway 27 north of High Hope Road.

Upon arrival, a pickup truck was found to have left the highway, went airborne and landed on its side in the woods.

Firefighters from Ward Six and Houston River Fire Departments utilized chainsaws, stabilization jacks, Jaws of Life and a K-12 saw in order to gain access to and extract the driver from the pickup. Several trees and a lot of brush had to be cleared away from the vehicle prior to us being able to start extrication procedures. All firefighters on scene did an outstanding job.

The driver of this pickup was transported to the hospital. There is no update on the driver’s condition at this time.

No injuries sustained to any occupants of the second vehicle.
