Ward 6 Firefighters responded to a mutual aid request from Ward 1 Fire Dept. at 8:30 p.m. last night for a structure fire at 2311 Gracie Dr. in Moss Bluff.
Ward 6 responded with an engine company, breathing air trailer, and eight firefighters. Firefighters from Ward 1, Lake Charles Fire Dept, Ward 6 Fire, and Houston River Fire Dept. worked for several hours to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries to firefighters or the home occupants. The home was a total loss.
Ward 6 firefighters have been very busy responding to emergency calls since Thursday, Dec. 19, which included the following: two Vehicle crashes, one Fire Alarm, one Automatic Aid to DeQuincy FD, one Automatic Aid to Houston River FD, two Mutual Aid Structure fires to Ward 1 FD.
During the holiday season remember to practice fire safety within your homes and make sure you have working smoke detectors. Be safe with fireworks and ensure they are properly extinguished before disposing of them. Ensure turkeys are completely thawed before attempting to fry them.
