DeQuincy native, Maurico Payne was promoted to Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Naval Base San Diego Theater.
His anchor was pinned by his wife, Ericka Payne and his sponsor Chief Vess Reyna, his sister-in-law.
His parents are Preston J. and Lena Chenier of DeQuincy.
