City Crew work procedures organized by district

From the Mayor’s Desk:

Following a Department Head meeting on Thursday, June 6, Mayor Riley Smith issued new procedures concerning work done by the city street employees to be implemented beginning July 1.

On the first week of each month, the street crews will be working in District One; on week two, in District Two; week three in District Three, and week four in District Four. The crews will concentrate on getting all work done in each district in their time frame.

This work will include all work done on roads, sewer, ditches, and anything else that needs to be accomplished in that particular district. Of course emergencies will be taken care of in all districts at any time.

If a citizen notices a problem in their district, the Mayor urges them to call City Hall, at 786-8241, report the problem, and a work order will be initiated, prioritized, and then tracked until the problems are resolved. With these new procedures in place, Mayor Smith and the Street Department Head, Eddie Dahlquist, will be able to track what has to be done and what already has been accomplished.

The goal of these new procedures is to better serve our citizens and to streamline the crews’ activity to make sure progress can be seen on our work orders.

New equipment has been ordered to help our street crews better accomplish their tasks in a more timely manner. Comments have already been sent to City Hall stating that our downtown area is looking better.

However Mayor Smith notes that there is still much to be done to make our city even cleaner and scenic. He urges all our citizens to pitch in, keeping their property clean.
