Michael Hughes, who has served as the Officer In Charge in DeQuincy since January, was officially named the new Postmaster on Monday, June 3.
Hughes has worked for the Post Office for 26 years. His first job was as a mail handler before becoming a carrier for 18 years in Lake Charles. He also served as a supervisor in both Lake Charles and Sulphur.
He is an Army veteran, having served at Fort Polk for four years.
Hughes, originally from North Carolina, has been married to his wife, Paula, for 30 years and they have three children.
