Utly Trahan

Utly Steven Trahan, 94, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, in Carlyss where he resided since 2008 after Hurricane Ike.

Prior to 2008, he lived in Johnson Bayou, where he was born. He worked and retired from the Louisiana DOTD. Before working for the state, he was also a school bus driver and janitor at Johnson Bayou High School. He was a cattleman and served overseas during World War II as a medic in the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his children, Peggy Boudreaux and husband Mike of Longville, Danny Michael Trahan and wife Nell of Abbeville, Malcolm Dean Trahan and wife Marilyn, Lynn Trahan and wife Donna, and Tony Ray Trahan and Debbie, all of Carlyss, and Randy Steven Trahan and wife Vickie, and Ricky Lane Trahan and wife Marsha, all of Johnson Bayou; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie Marie Trahan; parents, Alfred and Effie Trahan; and eight siblings.

His funeral was held Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Johnson Bayou Baptist Church. Rev. Jack Gandy officiated. Burial was in Head of the Hollow Cemetery in Johnson Bayou.
