The newly formed DeQuincy Rotary Club is closer to securing its new charter. On Wednesday, Feb. 13, a large group met at DeQuincy United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall for the regularly scheduled luncheon meeting.
For the program, Jeffra DeViney, DeQuincy News publisher, gave an overview and history of the Rotary Club in DeQuincy. The floor was then opened for election of officers.
They are: Kyle Carlson, president; Heather Royer, vice president; Amanda Mothershed, secretary; and Chantelle Smith, treasurer.
On Saturday, Jan. 26, Chantelle Smith and Jeffra DeViney represented the club at the Rotary District 620 2019 mid-year assembly in Lafayette. The conference was well attended and packed full of learning opportunities to help clubs network and learn with fellow Rotarians and key leaders.
DeQuincy Rotary Club will have its next meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at El Tucan, at 12 noon.
Regular meetings are slated for the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Meetings will alternate between the church and restaurant, sharing fellowship, friendship and service.
If you are interested in being a charter member, contact Kyle Carlson at 337-317-1555 or come to the next meeting. Help us rally to bring Rotary back to DeQuincy and help make our community and the world a better place.
