Jo Ann Marcantel, 64, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021 at her residence.
She was born to her late parents, J.B. and Loretta Brister on Nov. 15, 1956 in Conroe, Texas. She loved tending to her garden (especially growing tomatoes), making quilts, fishing, and her main love was her fur babies. Jo Ann loved going dancing and drinking with her friends. Every year she looked forward to cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for her family, which was a highlight for her.
She is survived by her brother, Robert “Jr.” Patrick Brister (Rhonda) of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Sheila Perkins of DeQuincy, Rhonda Yellott (Clinton) of Oretta; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carroll J. “Buck” Marcantel; her parents; along with her baby sister, Kathy Yellott.
Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Roland Hebert officiating. Visitation was held at New Hope Baptist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Services have been entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St, DeQuincy.
