Alice Managan

Alice Managan was born in Big Cane and died at 87 years of age on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020.

She is survived by her husband, William Vaughn Managan (Bill); brother, Paulien Guillott; sisters, Kathleen Guillott Johnson and Pauline Guillott Morris; children, Pamela Managan Rainey, Penny Managan Taylor, Miriam Managan Vincent, and William Vaughn Managan II along with their spouses Don Rainey, Jr, Randy Taylor, Don Paul Vincent, and Sunshine Managan; and six grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Crissie Lounsberry Guillott and Polien Guillott of Bayou Jacque; and brothers, Willis Guillott, Irving Guillott, Fennell Guilott, Leonard Guillott, and James Guillott.

In January 1962, Calcasieu parish had temperatures below freezing for 70 hours. The rice canals froze hard enough for Alice to go ice skating. This was such an unusual weather event that Paul Harvey mentioned Alice and her canal ice skating on his news broadcast.

There was a graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake Saturday, Jan. 2, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
