Stella Foland

Stella Foland, 98, was born Dec. 14, 1922 in Ragley and passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Shephard; brother, Freeman Conley; son, Bruce Foland and spouse Bonita Foland; daughter, Connie Foland; grandchildren, Mindy Barker and spouse Fred Barker and Ben Foland and spouse Nina Foland; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Mark, Izzy and Luke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Foland; her parents, Atwood and Virgie Conley; her brothers, Herman and Jim Pat Conley; and her sisters, Clyo Cooley, Claudine Royer, and Dottie Williams.

Mrs. Stella, after graduating from Ragley High School worked as an electrician on the planes at Chenault Air Base in Lake Charles during WWII. Her hobbies in life were sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles, hummingbird watching, and gardening. Traveling the United States was one of her favorite pastimes. Tuesday morning Bible study at Parkway Church was the highlight of her week. Mrs Stella’s family and friends were everything to her and she devoted her life to them.

She loved to spend time in prayer, reading the word and journaling about her experiences with God.

The family received friends from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at First United Pentecostal Church, 745 First United Pentecostal Church Road in Ragley. Interment followed at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
