Marty Wayne Droddy Sr. was born Nov. 28, 1956, and passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at the age of 69.
Marty was a lovable, funny, and easygoing man who was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome.
Family was the most important thing in Marty’s life. He loved his family deeply and treasured the time he spent with them. He also loved being on the water. Marty enjoyed taking his shrimping boat out, shrimping, and spending time fishing. The water was one of his happy places.
Marty will always be remembered for his kind heart, his laughter, his love for his family, and his enjoyment of the simple things in life. He made many wonderful memories with the people he loved, and those memories will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Marty Wayne Droddy Jr., Tracy Rainwater, Jason Droddy and wife Gina, and Jessica Droddy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Wesley Droddy and wife Leann, Zachary Droddy and wife Adriana, Andrew Droddy, Dusty Voussine and wife Laura, Travis Kelso and wife Tessa, and Mandy Voussine; and siblings, Charles E. Droddy and Carol Sue Douzart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Droddy; parents, C.W. and Betty Droddy; and sister-in-law, Renna Droddy.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Singer. Rev. Mark Schultz will be officiating. Interment to follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
