DES students earned 3rd place

Students from DeQuincy Elementary School recently achieved an exciting international accomplishment by earning 3rd place at the Sphero Global Challenge Finals.

The talented fourth-grade team represented their school and community with creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills throughout the competition. Team members included Kelsey Bullitt, Anna Hargrave, Jubilee Ramie, and Lily Ramie. The students were coached by Meredith Musgrove and Brittney Hargrave.

The Sphero Global Challenge brings together students from around the world to compete in robotics-based events that encourage innovation, coding, engineering, and collaboration. Teams must complete a variety of challenges using Sphero robotic technology while demonstrating communication and critical-thinking skills.

After months of preparation, practice, and teamwork, the DeQuincy Elementary students advanced through the initial rounds of competition before securing a third-place finish in the global finals — an outstanding achievement for the young competitors.

Family members, teachers, classmates, and community supporters celebrated the team’s success and praised the students for their hard work and positive attitude throughout the competition season.

The DeQuincy Elementary team’s achievement serves as an inspiration for other students interested in robotics, coding, and engineering, proving that determination and teamwork can lead to success on a global stage.
