Fred Joseph “Joe” Burleigh, Jr., 47, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, Apr. 24, 2025. He was born on Apr. 16, 1978, in Baton Rouge. Some of the things Joe enjoyed included: family time, Mardi Gras beads, Reader’s Digest magazines, family pictures, loved swimming, and enjoyed bouncing the ball. He was truly a very special young man and impacted many lives.
He is survived by his parents, Danny and Theresa Heard of DeQuincy; father, Fred Joseph Burleigh, Sr. of Pineville; sister, Cheslie Yellott (Toby) of DeQuincy; aunt, Cheryl (Scott) Brown, and his uncle, Frank L. Jones, all of DeQuincy along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and his favorite nieces, Laikyn and Bailee Folds.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carlton L. and Clarice Jones, James and Bobbie Burleigh; step grandparents, William and Lelia Heard; uncle, Dale Jones; along with his aunt, Dianne Heath.
A Celebration of Joe’s life was held at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy on Monday, Apr. 28, at 11 a.m. Pastor Wayne Neyland officiated. Visitation was held at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy on Monday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Riley Smith Memorial Park (formerly DeQuincy Memorial Park) in DeQuincy.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice and Resthaven Nursing Home, especially Mama Tammy, for the exceptional love and care they demonstrated.
Services were entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St, DeQuincy.
